Dia descends from Arc, and it shows — it is the best-designed thing in this category by a comfortable margin. The core interaction is an assistant with awareness of every tab you have open, which turns the browser into a reading and synthesis surface rather than an execution surface. "Compare these six pricing pages," "what do these four founder interviews agree on," "draft a summary from what's in front of me."
That makes it a different tool from Comet and Aside despite sitting in the same category. Dia is comparatively restrained about autonomously operating your logged-in accounts. For a VC that maps cleanly onto a real split in the work: Dia for the diligence read, something more agentic for the export-and-file jobs. It's also the lowest-risk entry point for anyone whose firm is nervous about the prompt-injection exposure that comes with letting an agent act inside authenticated sessions — less autonomy is less blast radius.
