Proposed · Tech Stack Deep Dives WG
Why this exists
The VC industry is ironic: it invests in technology companies who build applications, yet most firms and professionals barely make the time to know how to use common applications well. Talk to a typical partner about their tech stack, and hear maybe a CRM, task manager, database app (Airtable). Most of us are drowning in email and tweets, and forgot even how to write Excel functions. Tech Stack Deep Dives is for VCs who are self-aware enough to know the app explosion of the last 20 years has created a confusing ecosystem of options, and a skill-gap that means teenagers can give tech support to VCs who invest in tech companies.
We pick a layer, a challenge, a workflow -- and go deep into the ecosystem of options. We share our case studies, our wins, our frustrations. We check out new options and document and share back.
What we share
A user journey and evaluation of the tools we use and have checked out.
Willingness to ask others in the VC community what the actually do besides go to conferences and tweet, what they use, how they like it. Better if willing to author and perform surveys or interviews.
How we meet
Cadence: TBD — likely a recurring deep-dive rhythm where one member presents and the rest interrogate.
Who this is for
VCs who want their stack literacy to be operational, not vibes-based. Reading is required. Picking a layer to own for a cycle is encouraged.
